Actually, this is a phenomenon worth studying.

For starters, the website is classic Silly Valley technogeek
execubabble boiler plate. Whoever wrote this had to be an engineer, more than likely one who's been in management or marketing for too long. And the devices themselves, they're wonderful. They look exactly the way I would expect alien artifacts to look like. Keep in mind, I've never actually seen an alien artifact, but that's still the way I think they should look like.

The only false touch is the alien script. It's a bit of a stretch that aliens not only have an alphabet employed roughly the same way ours is, strings of simple characters in straight lines, but that they also stamp their machine parts with them, just like we do! I would think that alien alphabets (if they even use them) would look more like Chinese or Egyptian or Maya hieroglyphics, or even Arabic calligraphy, instead of something that looks like it might have evolved from Phoenician. And from the look at their manual, they have multiple fonts, too. How convenient, how human.

The phenomenon is worth studying, though. Why do people do this? It is either for fun or for money. The former is unlikely, to much work is involved in putting something like this together. It must be for money. But just how do you turn something like this into a money-making operation? Are enough people willing to pay to believe this to make it worth your while?

I think TB must be moonlighting.
