re: Why Alnitak?

Sometimes I point to Alnitak because its near to HIP 27435 which is one of the HabStars that I watch. You can see what I have collected in that area here:

Why do you think that any planet around Alnitak would be devoid of life or even that there is a planet? I have no knowledge of that. As for TV or radio stations, my small station could never hear a signal from that type of transmitter. I am looking for a signal from an antenna the size of Arecibo with at least 1,000,000 W ERP AND the signal has to be beam formed directly to our sun AND it has to be no more than 1 HZ wide. What do you think the chances are? Slim? Non-existent? Somewhere in between - that's my bet.

I don't know music theory except when I hear good music it moves me. Tonight I listening to Beethoven's ninth and I'll tell you music would be one of my first choices to communicate with another sentient being if I knew how.

It’s my opinion that we must look for ourselves in the stars otherwise we will never recognize contact when it is attempted. We must look for signals that we could generate at power levels that we could manage and we must think about where we would be listening if we were our counterpart extraterrestrial.

As a species we love music so why not.
