I guess this is directed to Mr. Brown, but I have an answer all my own.

Certainly, if we can handle infidelity, war, cancer and probably finding out some of us are adopted......what's the big deal? The 10% true believers would rejoice, the 80% in the middle would adjust, and the last 10% would go down in denial, drugs, alcohol or flames. But who cares about them anyway?

To some degree, I think that's why "they" (if there is a "they") are upping the ante now. There was pestilence, floods and famines in the Bible and non-human entities intervened, why wouldn't we accept them as angels or demons now?
