You have some really good stories

And it's interesting to see the WHYs of how we all came to love space, or those outside boundaries we just can't reach with our hands, only our minds.

>"As I look back on it I have spent my entire life attempting to communicate in one way or another. "

With an attitude like that maybe you should increase your chances and go out to the desert for a couple of nights with your wife (or perhaps, by yourself), and THINK the process of contact without all the radios, lights, wires......DISTRACTIONS. Our own minds are like cell phones you know. It has been proven that consciousness has no boundaries through time or space, because two people can have the same thought simultaneously half way around the world. And if other life forms are conscious, how do you know that you can't contact them by thought alone?

>"When we make the first confirmed signal from an ET I want to be alive. I want to see how the politicians react and if it brings at the worlds people together against a common (perceived) enemy".

Common enemy? Wrong word. If there was an enemy, we'd have been toast eons ago. How about the word "neighbour" as in:
" I want to see how the politicians react and if it brings at the worlds people together towards a common neighbour".

You're thinking like Reagan here.
