re: Aiming at infrared glows

At the moment, no, but if you can find the catalogs for such infrared satellites as
IRAS and ISO and see where they found IR glows with no corresponding optical
objects, that might help.

Another possibility is aiming away from galactic center, out in the galactic anticenter
region near Auriga. It is thought that advanced ETI with Dyson Shells would want to
be in very cold regions of the galaxy to offset all the heat they generate, such as in
the outer arms.

I am not saying that no one exists around a planet circling a star besides us, but
it is time we started getting past the old SETI paradigm, even if this is eventually
found not to be the correct one, either. At least it beats going over the same old
terrain and continuing to find nothing. Besides, we may have a better chance at
finding an advanced ETIs electromagnetic leakage over anyone elses, in the event
they have nothing to say to us.
