Space/Science » in reply to Robots or humans: time to grow up?

This is so typical...

Here we have the fat-behind youtube generation, addicted to interacting solely via keyboards, who only stop to eat and make a periodic bathroom break for their deteriorating anatomies.

This generation lives a scary life - socially retarded, dressed in outfits even a metalhead would've rejected as dorky 1/4 century ago and are incapable of maintaining even the smallest real human to human conversation. They seek longer and more complex video games and artificial realities to make up for the fact that they don't have a real life.

Robotic exploration fits right in with these folks. They prefer "artificial reality" to the real thing. They prefer living like vegetables vicariously watching others on youtube and wasting the weeks, months and years away.

Anything that requires getting up out of a chair is loathsome. Any interaction or information that can't be sent digitally through a screen is cumbersome.

The ones who are not growing up are these robotic exploration types. They simply want a jobs program - and instead of making and designing video game consoles, they program and design robots. It's a geek-world's utopia - locked in a room with some technology for years at a time.

And because they want the money, to sustain their "living in the room with the shades drawn lifestyle", they now seek to curtail biological space sciences and man's ability to leave the planet.

These folks are not humanists and that is the problem, they are socially retarded and are starting to project the love for other humans on technology. Their lifestyles have turned them into introverts who fear the outside world and limit their outdoor activities to trips to Fry's and a drive through the burger joint.

This is the problem. It's not cowardice, but something more akin to complete social and environmental retardation. Man seeks to explore and spread his wings - not curl up in a fetal position with a keyboard and a monitor.

I know this may come as a shock...but some folks still want to live life travel to other worlds, leave the Earth behind, leave the solar system, spread humanity throughout the galaxy...and even travel beyond this dimension or to parallel dimensions.

Life was not meant to be lived via pixels set at 1800x1600 resolution.
