Why not focus on the stated purpose of space research and exploration, knowledge and the implications of such knowledge?
Why not glorify the folks who design, build the parts, assemble, launch, monitor and operate the robotic vehicles? After all, a robot in space is as much a creation of man, an expression of mankinds inquisitiveness, inventiveness and ingenuity as is a human being. As has been said, the creation of yet another human is rather mundane, accomplished by unskilled labor in their spare time. A robot in space is Man in space.
With enough preparation by robots the eventual arrival of Man could be made easy. As a cutting edge research tool Man doesn't have the sensors. Has the brain, which can operate best from Earth.
Man and robot, both doing what they do best. For the benefit of all Mankind, not just a few.
