that the whole concept of "conspiracy" wasn't so bastardized by political rhetoric because there are true conspiracies in our world. Lincoln's assassination was clearly one. I believe there was some aspect of conspiracy or at least multiple shooters in the Kennedy assassination although I don't believe the government killed him.
Obviously the claims of the government staging the 9/11 attack are preposterous as are the silly claims that the moon landing was staged.
What separates in my mind the outrageous from the possible is the ineptitude of the perpetrators. The more inept, the more likely there was a true conspiracy. It's why the staging of 9/11 is so out of the realm of possibility. For that to have occurred, too many people (possibly thousands) would've had to play their parts without a glitch. Same with the moon launch.
With the Kennedy assassination it has all the markings of complete government screwup and a boneheaded attempt to make themselves look competent after allowing whoever (probably the Mafia) to pick through their "security" with impunity. Too many witnesses screamed immediately about inconsistencies with the official story. There was graphic video showing the president's head blown away from an obviously frontal shot. The trail of messy coverup just kept going on and on afterwards with people coming out of the woodwork from all aspects of government as would be expected with normal human behavior. If we extrapolated that trend out with a supposed 9/11 conspiracy, we'd have more than just the fringe wackos pushing the theories. There'd be whistle-blowers popping up telling us about how they herded the passengers off the planes to some holding area, guys that came out saying they armed the missile that went into the Pentagon, etc.
One of our local liberal talk show hosts the other day started chastising a caller that respectfully challenged him on his 9/11 conspiracy beliefs and it was embarrassing. I lost a tremendous amount of respect for the guy even though he's so on the money on other issues. I can buy the fact that Bush's bunch (a very close circle) may have known or suspected the attack was coming and did nothing to stop it knowing the political advantage they'd get but to believe that guys were planting explosives in the WTC buildings before the attack and nobody noticed or squealed is idiotic.
Sorry Jacob that I got off on a tangent from your obvious stab at comedy but it hit a sore spot with me and I needed to rant. If I make a funny face will it help?
