But your assumption seems to be that most everyone in the scientific community has an axe to grind and is in on this scam for the grant dollars, but that folks like the big companies have no financial stake in this and no incentive to sway public opinion and regulatory legislation.
This discussion has nothing to do with the science in this case, but it really isn't about science, is it? It's about ideology. It's not about which side is right, but about which side should be right. Maybe even which side deserves to be right.
