You need to realize...

...most scientists, if they are somewhat quick-witted, are working for industry - NOT academia. The one's left work for academia and are freelancers for industry.

The CFC-ozone issue is the case of some paid scientists to conjur up "formulas" for destroying an industry or the sales of a competitor while waiting in the wings to clean up when the government has been lobbied and the media have been paid of to shout hysterically.

GM bought out and tore up railroads, street cars and even carriages - just so folks would be forced to buy a car. They lobbied the government to build FREEWAYS for their automobiles - and billed it as a national necessity to "evacuate the cities when a nuclear attack is imminent".

If you can lobby the governments to ban CFCs and you have a replacement (albeit inferior product) waiting to replace it...BINGO! Imagine if someone could say Microsoft Windows software is designed to cause seizures? Let the media carry the message, let fear play it's part and soon everyone is demanding Microsoft Windows stop being used on computers. Old computers must have NEW operating systems installed and future products must not possess Microsoft Windows! An instant fortune!

That's exactly what "global warming science" is - an instant fortune for many companies.

The scientists shouting about global warming are shills - just like the oil company scientists are also shills. Take your pick. And those not on salary, when asked, simply want to make a name for themselves and will take an opinion that promises the easiest return.

Nikola Tesla worked for industry, Edison, Steinmetz, Marconi and Da Vinci - all worked for industry. If you have the mental goods - industry wants them and will pay for them.

It's not about academia versus industry - it's about INDUSTRY vs. INDUSTRY!
