re: No.

Which brings us back to the truth: Democrats don't worry about Reid because they know he's not any more of a real Mormon than Hillary Clinton is an actual Methodist.

Reid is a real mormon. He just happens to sit on the other side of the aisle. That alone is the reason he's not questioned about his beliefs.

There are plenty of mormons who believe evolution to be a tool in God's toolbox and don't believe in young earth creationism. There are also young earth creationists a plenty. Its something a mormon has freedom to decide for himself. The church doesn't actively teach evolutionism, but doesn't close the door on it either.

The mormon church actually has plenty of people deciding what they believe. Its a tenant of mormonism to seek out knowledge and decide for yourself.

Mormonism does not have a professional clergy. The clergy and the congregation are one and the same since the lay-clergy comes out of the congregation at a local level and there is a fairly constant reorganization always under way. Because of this the church expects those teaching to stick to their official curriculums since in their teaching capacity they are representing the church not the individual. There is room for an individual to have alternate beliefs, just no room to teach those alternate beliefs in one's church capacity.

As for all of the other stuff mentioned, this is the wrong board for such a discussion. I won't actively participate in my own lynching. See me on off-topic without the warpaint and I'll do my best to provide answers to any one's questions.
