but after reading this week's Newsweek featuring articles about Huckabee, I'm not as turned off by him as would befit a militant atheist. For someone pandering to the religious right, many of his early deeds in life read like someone that actually lives the Christian ideals. He repeatedly stood up for the oppressed and economically challenged and actually seems to have read the Constitution. He would be far from a Bush clone. Plus he plays rock and roll. That's worth something.
Now, between him and any of the Democratic candidates, I'm certainly not voting Republican this time. That would be insane. The conservatives need a big dose of humble pie after the last idiotic decade and we can't afford another Alito or Roberts on the Supreme Court.
It's a shame too. Had the Republicans not gotten greedy I'd actually allow them into the mix but it's time for tough love in our country. They came very close to being in time out for the rest of their lives.
