Oh I know
My wailing and lamentation was mostly tongue-in-cheek. The cynic in me knows that I was reversing cause-and-effect talking about people implementing sci-fi ideas--dystopian ideas are realized more often simply because they're more likely to come true in the natural course of human affairs, while utopias require a conscious effort. And even then human nature turns utopia into dystopia all too often.
Philip K. Dick was a pessimist, and that's simply betting on the odds.
