Average temperatures

I like the stuff about "there's no such thing as average global temperature". Apparently it's anyone's guess whether Venus is warmer or colder than Earth.

Cute. I can tell an elephant is bigger than a dog without a ruler, too.

Now, tell me within 1 degree Centigrade HOW much hotter Venus is than Earth.

The 100 year linear trend described in the IPCC report is an increase of about 1 degree Centigrade (actual range given is 0.56 to 0.92). That's a hell of a small number in an environment that ranges over about 120 degrees in its normal mode.

I'm not saying it isn't warmer now than at the end of the 19th century. The evidence other than measured temperatures is out there and definite. But let's not get cocky about how many degrees we're talking, or what the slopes of the curves are.
