most of those wooden boxes are located at airports to if I recall correctly...
50 years ago those airports tended to be on the outskirts of municipalities and surrounded by open fields...Today those same airports are surrounded by urban sprawl and a thus a distinct heat island effect might be responsible for a significant portion of the increase in average tempatures...
So in reality we might have 20 years of good satelite data...
