Seems that review of the criticism is mired in legitimate controversey

It is clear from reading the Wiki entry and cited source material that the hockey stick cornerstone of the IPCC is the subject of serious statistical controversey on the part of knowlegeable professionals. This situation is a far cry from the oft touted claims by political types in the mainstream press that the science is all complete and there is no reason to question the results.

It is irresponsible in the least to base a national and world bigtime political intervention in economic matters on evidence so close to 'red noise'.

The prudent course is to acknowlege that there may well be serious climate change underway and because of our lack of real climatic knowlege, be prudently cautious in tampering with the ecosphere. Take rational, carefully considered steps to mitigate anthropic contributions which have the added benefit of reducing dependency on energy from world trouble spots. Radical measures that would destabilize markets don't have the supporting evidence, despite the strident propaganda from politicians in the media. I'll take these alarmists more seriously when they eschew their 10,000+ sq ft multiple homes, fleets of vehicles, stretch limos and penchants for flying to and fro in private jets with big fat carbon elephant prints. Edwards, Gore, Kennedy et. al. are not consistently behaving as if it's a crisis. Belatedly, after being outed, adding energy saving accessories to megamansions isn't behaving in a sincere manner. Stridently opposing Wind Farms off Cape Cod because they affect the view and some favorite sailing areas isn't taking the real need and availability of renewable energy to heart.
