Generally what I do when Tom starts to get on my nerves is simply to stop taking him seriously for a while. Then I just poke a little fun at him and bait him a bit, or take extremely unreasonable positions just to watch him froth at the mouth.
That's good news. I thought you were losing it sometimes. ;-)
