Not exactly.
We shouldn't take this all that seriously. None of us is a major political force, and our opinions here aren't going to change the world. This board isn't widely read, and floats off to one side of the blogosphere as a comfortable little island. If I managed to convince every last person here of my views, it would barely make a burp in the scheme of things.
Actually...it does.
In an infinitely interlinked universe every single burp affects the fate of civilizations, planets...galaxies and dimensions.
Take it all very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that you do not let anything emotionalize you or have power over you. Each thought, even after you have thought it, does not disappear. Like all energy it regenerates and recycles itself into your consciousness at a future times when it's cycle is again in phase with the focal point of your consciousness.
Sure like the blind men and the elephant, each are grasping at different parts and explaining it to the others and no two share exactly the same description. The Zone, like everything else, is just like that elephant and means different things to different people.
One of the reasons I want the boards content accessible to the search engines is so that this site is more widely read and referenced. I would be very happy to see this place with at least twice the number of posters, equal to where it was when it started, and preferably three or four times so the depth of conversing increases proportionately. Part of the problem with the Zone right now is that familiarity breeds contempt. And this place is drowning in familiarity. The tight-knit family needs to interact with more than just themselves otherwise they become in-bred. That's what's happening here...to much repetition create cancellation and retardation. All the boards are experiencing this when compared to the fresh conversations and deeper discussions had by many strangers.
This place will NEVER be so overcrowded it is overcome with spam or noise. The content, SPACE, attracts way to few folks. One look at the layout of the site and the space graphics will send most folks packing to more "hip" pastures. I vote we let Robert experiment with full access to Google and see what happens. He can always, later, restring it so that those roots are again invisible should it suddenly become a madhouse here. ;-) LOL!
