You have it sewn up.
I can think of no major strategies for improvement, outside of buying a more fuel efficient vehicle, which I am not going to do right now.
So, I'm going to try a sort of crazy experiment.
I've laughed at people who proposed this in the past, but I'll try it just for fun.
The crazy idea is drive with a quarter tank of gas, to reduce weight.
The only reason I'm considering this, is my car's weight comes in fairly light at 2800 pounds. (3.2 liter, flat 6, 6 speed)
In town I get 18 mpg, which I could probably tweak up to 20.
Highway is an easy 40 mpg.
Using a value of 8.66 pounds per gallon of gasoline, I would knock off about 120 pounds.
That's a lot of weight in a light car.
I don't really expect much, but it will be fun to see what happens.
