>"It's much better to keep hiking minimum wage up till the entire USA is outsourced to India, China and Mexico."
It's not the minimum wage that is sending our companies to those countries; it is the cheap labor, and it's the corporate decision to go there FOR the cheap labor. And our country allows it. Encourages it even. There is no pride left in manufacturing an American product, because where can you find one these days?
The minimum wage came about decades ago to ensure American workers were getting a fair price for their labor. From the companies that supported them. Now most American companies don't care and they'd much rather let go a 55 yr. old company man that knows how to run it and hire a 25 yr. man who doesn't at a fraction of the cost.
YOU don't have a minimum wage job and probably have never had one. You're probably living off family money and have never had to seriously work for a living, where the health and sustanance of your wife and children depend on your income. Whether you a machinist or a caretaker, you depend on the fairness of the market to give you a life-sustaining wage.
Your $2 an hour minimum wage reminds me of someone with their finger up their nose pontificating his life as the next Dick Cheney. If you think teenagers would be willing to work a job after school for 20 hrs a week and their take home pay would be about $33, you have no idea how out of touch you are with teenagers. Crime would escalate like crazy and just the mere fact you mentioned this, has me thinking you're some type of spoiled aristocrat.
>"The target audience of DNC voters this appeals to are not quite capable of linking cause and effect yet."
It's the Republicans who have blocked hiking up the minimum wage the past couple of decades to stay within the rise of the cost of living. Don't push any of this on your DNC voters.
