I'm not too happy about my taxes being used to help support Christian myth factories that can't make it on their own in the marketplace.
The private schools are doing just fine on their own, with plenty of people well-off enough to pay tuition and still pay for the public schools.
Ever think maybe these people are not happy either about taxes going to public schools that have absorbed ever more money over the years with ever-dimishing results? And which often pump their own little myths into young heads?
The function of vouchers is not to enrich private schools but to allow people who don't have a lot of money to have a choice. It's not like private schools are going to have empty seats if the poor don't show up. Many private schools have scholarship and charity programs, but they only cover a limited number of people.
Vouchers are often overwhelmingly supported by the poor and community leaders in poor cities.
For more information, here's a table of private school tuitions, and here's one of public school expenditures.
