re: Introducing LIB.

Offshore drilling isn't too popular in Florida, either.

That may be changing. This poll doesn't address the issue head on, but it does imply more support than you say there is.

The current governor and a few others seem more open on the issue, too.

Keep in mind that oil drilling makes states where it happens quite wealthy, too. This is also an issue tax-hungry states are considering.

The whole "why bother when it won't bring product out for years" thing is, frankly, nuts. I hear this all the time, but somehow we're expected to get enormously excited about alternative energy research that isn't going to pick up any measurable energy slack for many years either.

Keep in mind that these potential oil resources were shut down many years ago. Had ANWR not been vetoed by Clinton, it would be near full production now.

The "oil leases not being exploited" is a highly misleading soundbite from a few Congressmen. These leases have to be acquired and approved over a long period of time, and of course with limits on equipment and funding it isn't possible to exploit them all simultaneously.

You're still misusing the word "conspiracy," but if I haven't gotten that across by now, I guess there's no point in belaboring it.
