All it often takes is a funny looking light in the sky. Those sprites
would qualify big time.

I have known people tell me how they were frightened by their first
observations of aurorae and the ring around the Moon that often
happens just before it rains or snows. I have even had people ask me
what the heck was going on with the Moon during a lunar eclipse
because they had no idea what was happening. And this is in so-called
modern times.

This is why I take every UFO report with a large bag of salt. Not
because I think all UFO observers are crazy or trying to play a trick,
but because many people don't have a clue about what is up in the
sky and they literally flip out when they see something they do not
think should be up there. Add the UFO hype to the ingredients and
we have a full blown alien invasion.
