Off Topic » in reply to I am so excited. Now we can find out what all of the drunks and loonies in Canada have been seeing.

To be fair

Certainly not everyone who reports a UFO sighting is a drunk or a kook
or even a hoaxter.

A lot of them are regular people who see something unfamiliar in the
sky and, combined with the exsiting UFO hype, tend to turn a bright
light or a distant weather balloon into an alien spacecraft.

And I also think people WANT to have something a little out of the
ordinary happen in their typical dull lives of drudgery and pain to at
least pull them out of their own pits if nothing else, and to feel like
their life has a purpose beyond existing and dying. The same reason
people see a stain on the wall and think it is a sign from Jesus or Mary
or Elvis.

I have had my share of regular people tell me about their UFO event in
deep confidence. They definitely did not want what they say made
public, even if it was just a light in the night sky that did some strange
manuevers (the usual story). And they were not lying or deluded.

Makes me wonder what might have happened to some folks who are
terrified of ever revealing something that would label them as nuts for
life. That is the problem - between the hoaxers and fanatics, there
may have been a legit sighting of an alien visitor that has been ignored
or never reported because of all the false crap spewing about.

Eh, we're probably not really read for a meeting with a true intelligence
yet anyway.
