"Holding creationist views in the face of years of scientific evidence is no stupider than holding these economic views in the face of a hundred years of critical thinking and real-world observation."
That is not only not true, it's not even wrong. We're talking apples and oranges. Creationism/Darwinism is a binary decision, a choice between mutually self-excluding and opposing world views. Politics is a continuous spectrum in at least one dimension, perhaps many more, and embraces an infinity of gradations and subtle shades of difference.
The choice isn't between religion and Stalinism, TB, it's between a foul and toxic anti-scientific superstition and some of your fellow countrymen whose political opinions aren't quite identical to yours, perhaps just somewhat to the left of them.
What you've just implied is that you would rather live in a fundamentalist, creationist theocracy than in a society that is not implacably hostile to anything you consider to the left of your views. Do you really see us all here as Bolsheviks working tirelessly to undermine the nation? Didn't it ever occur to you that some of us might be infuriated at your audacity at characterizing us in that way? And is it any wonder that those of us subjected to this continuous abuse simply find it difficult to take anything you say seriously?
Get a grip, man. You're making a fool of yourself.
