Not liking Kyoto or cap and trade is not a basis for ignoring scientific evidence or latching on to lame excuses to reject it. I never liked Kyoto and am not wild about cap and trade. If there are readily available solutions it will work, if not it's a cap on growth as well. I prefer the direct approach of research on energy alternatives and building infrastructure to support technology mature enough to implement.
The thing that really really pisses me off from a political point is that whether you believe in GW or not everyone should agree that our dependence on foreign oil is a huge detriment to our security and prosperity. Working to resolve that dependence in a way that also adresses GW is a win double win situation. It is ridiculous that we have delayed more than 3 decades adressing a common solution to one or more problems that are of concern to nearly everyone in total. It is a massive failure of our political system just like SS and medicare. A mature rational culture should be able to address large long term problems not continually push them off to future generations.
