"I'll believe crooked businessmen are protecting their profits before I'll believe a crooked scientific establishment covering up each other's mistakes just so they can...explain to me again what they're doing and why."
Throughout history, the "crooked businessmen" must make a profit or they go out of business whereas "crooked scientific establishment" are working for some king or govt which grants them money. And this money the State collects from taxes or profits from other sovereign enterprises.
Throughout history the "crooked scientific establishment" has been comprised or led by "experts" or other kinds of priests/witch doctors. The "crooked scientific establishment" would have been involved in making any and all of the "Seven Wonders of the World" and such mythical things as Tower of Babel. One of their latest and more prominent achievements has been going to the Moon. This led to a common saying of "If we can go to the Moon, then we can do [fill in the blank check]. It is unknown if a similar saying was said in regards to the great pyramids.
