Good points

As far as we know, which is admittedly limited by the capabilities of our technology, only on Earth does water exist in all three states: liquid, solid, and gas. That makes Earth a pretty noticeable oasis, at least in this neck of the cosmos.

I agree that any ET capable of getting here likely would have, shall we say, the upper hand in any dealings with humans. Much of nature on our little world seems to rely heavily on predator-prey relationships of one kind or another. Everything needs to eat. Packaged prey can't disguise its origins, but it's easy enough to distance ourselves from the farmed cows, chicken, catfish and whatnot that ends up at the drive-thru window at McDonalds, or in one of the bins at Vons.

The fact is, our ignorance about what really goes on in the Cosmos is enormous. We don't really even have a very good handle on what goes down under our oceans. We studied those moon rocks for decades before somebody, just last year, notices that there is indeed a tiny bit of water lurking in some of those glassy spheres the Apollo astronauts brought back, so there are still very big lingering questions about the origin of our own Moon.

There is so much we just don't know. Nevertheless, and speaking strictly as an individual who looks up, looks down, looks around and is overcome with wonder, I have only a limited amount of time and energy in this magnificent world, and so I must make decisions with my limited intellect about what I'm going to occupy myself with as time rushes by.

At this point, after reviewing a little of the question, crop circles don't fall into my in-basket of interesting stuff, other than as I have outlined in other posts in this thread.

Thanks,

S
