Stonehenge

IIRC, the most recent theories of Stonehenge focus on the bluestones, which were reputed to have healing properties.

I'm just about out of time for the day, so I can't go searching for more references just now, but, if memory serves, there are apparently a fairly large number of burials in the immediate vicinity of this mysterious ancient monument, including some exhibiting obvious crippling deformities and other such maladies, which would tend to rule out a burial place for nobility and rule in the idea that this ancient place was something of a healing mecca which attracted people suffering from disease, injuries and other misfortunes.
