no, no, no, no he's outside looking in.......
I remember an old acquaintance back in the college days. Craig began the relationship with our circle of friends as a very conservative individual. Good sense of humor but very business-like. Well, within our group we certainly found ways to chip away at that veneer. We were always surrounded by music and much of it was from progressive rock groups like the Moody Blues. Add in smoke-filled rooms and it was the perfect experience for young minds.
Craig went in deep to the Moodies, finding messages in their songs about astral travel, the whole fantasy realm. He knew they were preaching the "truth" and became this new person that had all the answers none of the rest of us could comprehend. The other buddies just really enjoyed the lyrics and groove and Craig slowly faded from the circle. Subsequent encounters with him were always very strange. He'd smile at you with that all-knowing leer. Brilliant man but totally off his fucking rocker.
Later on I heard an interview with some of the principals of the Moody Blues. They talked about their obsessive fans and how bizarre they were, how they'd come up to them wanting to know the answers to life. It got downright scary. The song "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" was written about that strange trend.
Eri, I'm glad you've had those experiences if believing they happened brings you joy and answers. You never push the philosophy on the rest of us and that's way cool. I'm certain too you wouldn't be smiling that creepy Craig smile if we ever met. Now Techie......
