Something all zealots have in common.

"It's only when that "truth" in someone becomes so compelling that they feel they must share it with others and that sharing becomes an obsession to convince that it becomes maddening. The main factor in what makes it frustrating is that often the individual pushes the burden of proof on their audience to disprove the belief."

Anomalism is not limited to pseudoscience and conspiracy theories. It happens when people think they have it all figured out and they feel that any contradiction to their belief in the world is a personal threat to them. And in a way, it is. You can be right and still be an anomalist.

Most of us are already resigned to the idea that half of what we know might be wrong. But some of us cannot afford to be wrong about anything. The psychic risks are too high.
