re: Just pondering....

Jody, what you're describing is simply fantasy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It can feel just like reality to any individual. Nobody, even the most fervent scientist, atheist, or rationalist is the least bit threatened by people's own personal realities.

It's only when that "truth" in someone becomes so compelling that they feel they must share it with others and that sharing becomes an obsession to convince that it becomes maddening. The main factor in what makes it frustrating is that often the individual pushes the burden of proof on their audience to disprove the belief.

They somehow hold that the burden rests more on the person questioning the "fact" than on them to provide strong and compelling evidence to support it.

Could aliens be living among us? Sure, but it's an outrageous claim without any verifiable evidence at all. I or anyone else have no obligation to view it as anything more than your daydreaming and fantasizing until you provide Geraldo Rivera climbing down into the subterranean grotto where they live and conducting an interview.

I've been recently on a website where there's extensive research by a man regarding whether Jesus Christ actually existed as a human. He shows clearly that Christians have not provided that proof and that evidence actually makes a strong case against it even though a huge portion of the world holds it to be an irrefutable fact. I was one of them. Even though I was sure that the human Jesus had no divinity, I had no reason to believe he never truly lived. Now I'm leaning to the notion that he was nothing more than mythology and fable brought to life. I'll do a diary on that research soon.

Science throws out wishful thinking and what-ifs except during the stage where theories are being initially developed. They are powerful tools for creativity but as soon as it's clear there's no supporting evidence, the trail turns to the next branch. It's how it works. Enjoy your "truth". You're entitled to it. Just don't be surprised if, when you "share" it or push its possibility that you're met with a bit of scorn and humor.
