But in a free market there is always someone willing to undercut your price to gain market share. If AP charges other news sources, in the U.S. and outside will provide it for free. That is what happened with the NYT attempt to charge for news.

News is different then music. There you are buy the artist and so they are able to charge you whatever the market will bear.

News is a commodity. If you want to skip AP charges just go direct to the press release from the White House, General Motors, etc. Or a non-AP source that is free. And they will emerge is AP attempts to try to charge for news.
