deBeers commits other crimes in the gathering of their diamonds, which taints their product. The analogy is poor.
Engineers and scientists refer to themselves as "the professionals". There is just as much of a claim to superior quality there as there is among professional media people. Sometimes amateurs are embraced as self-taught colleagues, but they have to prove themselves first.
I see your problem now: you're afraid that AP is going to cut into your business by requiring you to pay for their product, which you currently use for free.
AP doesn't sell to advertisers. It sells to other media, who are being ripped off left and right on the internet. They also need to find a way to defend their copyright in view of this problem.
Thank you for the insight into the "free" internet.
When you decide to underwrite access to the free internet for people who can't afford it, let me know. My organization, which is a non-profit providing free access to citizens, will be the first in line with our hands out. We need to replace several desktop computers and a number of components, and I would like about 2 dozen fully-loaded laptops to run training programs on our wireless in the meeting room. Those, we would charge a fee for. I know, I know, how evil to charge for a product, but the money to pay the electric bill has to come from somewhere.
See you in the funny pages.
