And there is a problem right there

This isn’t your problem but one of society.

You are describing them as young, attractive women. Older women, less attractive women also can feel the fear of men and yet writings in the subject invariably involve a description of the woman as if it was relevant.

Do, older or unattractive women not feel the same fear ? Perhaps not. They know their value in a society that sees older women as invisible, it’s not an unusual put down from men to say to a woman that she’s too ugly to be scared of being out at night. That’s paraphrased, the actual comment I’ve heard lacks any subtlety and leaves no room for misinterpretation.

Men think it, subconsciously. Women believe it, also subconsciously. It gets acted on consciously by both men and women,

I’ve been guilty of it myself, I expect we all have if we are honest.
