That's because you think of work as wage slavery: Something unpleasant you begrudgingly do because you have to eat, you have no other choice. But what if we could all think of work the way businessmen do, as a means of self-expression, of personal achievement, of human self-actualization? Something we could take pride in, the way a skilled craftsman takes pride in his work.

Unfortunately, mechanized production and modern administration has fewer and fewer opportunities for that kind of work any more. Few positions outside management either require creativity, or reward it. Work is interchangeable, repetitive, something that will probably be done by a machine someday, as soon as the machine is invented, or becomes affordable.

Unfortunately, we can't all be businessmen and entrepreneurs. Those positions are all filled, and they're not giving them up easily.
