Re: Define "impossible".

Believe it or not, I have some sympathy for the argument, but it's mostly left wing Utopian baloney.

This guy makes a couple of assertions that I think are plain wrong:

1) food and shelter are a basic human right - yeah? Guaranteed by whom? God? The same left wingers who advocate this kind of nonsense have a conniption when anyone mentions God. Ah, by government then. Right.

2) the libertarian answer (and the way we seem to be going right now) would be to let those who can't capitalize on the bounty simply suffer. - That's not how libertarians think. We have no problem with charity. It's altruism that pisses us off. How about families providing for those that don't have the basic tools to contribute? Or churches, if that's your bag? But the left doesn't want strong families because that would reduce the need for government. And they definitely don't want churches.

There's no road back to an agrarian, artisan, barter-based society except a complete apocalypse that wipes away the 100+ years of conditioning that tells us government is there to make our lives better and that we all "deserve" healthcare, iPhones, air conditioning and big screen TVs for putting tops on bottoms for eight hours a day.

Ah screw it, let's all just put on our virtual reality headsets and create games for each other and inspire each other. :)
