If that article doesn't graphically demonstrate the need for a regulatory environment I don't know what does. The FDA is underfunded and understaffed. Food safety had been deregulated under Reagan and GHWB. Further. many of the current regulation were written early in the LAST century. I guess that falls under the category of what you think has already been regulated and doesn't need any more?? Do you think nothing has changed in the food industry in the last 100 years??
It is clear that the profit motive is too strong for many to resist, thus the need to keep people honest. These guys at Cargill are as bad as any criminal. They are harming people to make money. This is the reason regulations are needed. And please don't tell me this industry is the exception.
