The cost estimates we are hearing from the Democrats are utter crap. If they are accurate, it will be the first time a program like this has matched cost estimates during my entire life.

Remember the cost estimates for Medicare when the Democrats were selling us that program? In 1965, America was told that the cost of the program in 1990 would be $9 billion a year. It was actually $67 billion. Many more examples here.

Given this history, never mind the history of large government programs in the military, space programs, you-name-it, anybody claiming that we're going to do it cheaply "this time for sure" has a serious burden-of-proof issue. Kind of like the guy letting go of a brick over a neutron star and telling me it's going to fly off into space.
