Tom, the current healthcare system will break the nation regardless of what governmetn does. It's just too damn expensive. We pay more than any other nation and we still have millions uninsured. People do not have to face financial ruin when they get sick in other countries. There are models all over the world that work. As long as we have insurance middlemen adding 30% to the cost of healthcare while denying coverage to sick people we are going to have a problem. We need to take the profit motive out of the equation. A single payer system will dramatically slow the upward spiral on healthcare costs. NOTHING else will.
