The market did not "run aground." The market was completely screwed up by separating price signals from users. Government subsidies are a large part of this, but insurance coverage of every conceivable cost is also an issue.
Until market forces are brought back into the system, it's going to get worse. The only solution we are presented is to go further towards an all-powerful state monopoly.
This has never been about health care for the statists. Why do you think they ignore any solution that does NOT involve gathering more money and power to the government?
