As far as military policy was concerned, Obama sat back and pretty much continued whatever Bush and his generals were doing.
Not that I'm complaining about that.
1. NO we are NOT continuing the Bush policies. Obama has ENDED the war in Iraq. We would be there indefinitely were the GOP calling the shots. Afghanistan, we are clearly in the midst of a MAJOR effort to win this war. We have TRIPLED the number of forces there and are going after the major enemy strongholds. Further, there has been a huge increase in drone strikes in Pakistan, where the true cancer is. So your comment about "continuing the Bush policies" is blatant bullshit.
The "One Nation" rally isn't about the war. It's about leftists desperately trying to rally their base (external link) to save the arse of the Democratic Party next month.
The rally brags about its "diversity," by which they mean, of course, socialists of all races, creeds, and sexual orientations.
2. Yes the rally is about getting out the base. Duh. So was Beck's rally. His was all about one race, one creed, and one sexual orientation.
America has already gotten a really good look at the core ideology of the Democrats over the past two years, when the Left figured it had buried conservatism for good in the last two elections and could finally go for the gold. The next election may reflect that wake-up call.
3. There is a conservative streak in the American middle. But the right wing agenda of eliminating medicare, social security and public education is VERY unpopular to anyone paying attention, and further is a RADICAL agenda with huge social implications.
