Tom, that is NOT what I want nor is that what it is about.

I do not want redistribution of wealth. Hell, I hope to BE wealthy one of these days. What I object to is the squeezing of the middle and lower wage classes in order to increase that wealth. You want loyalty, you pay your people a living wage, a good wage. You take care of them and what do you get in return? A businessman (if I had time to search it out now, I would) was on the edge of bankruptcy. He talked to his employees and the all agreed together for a course of action. The employees took a temporary reduction in salary and benefits and the businessman took NO salary for a year. Everyone kept their jobs and the man was able to save his company. Loyalty. You take care of one another. Those employees would walk through fire for him and he would for them. And together they found a solution and survived.

We're in the big squeeze. I saw my real wages go down, down, down over the last few years I was employed. And before that, raises were stingy for all employees. We had one supervisor who was not like that and we would have walked like for for her. She saw to it that we got bonuses. That was the last we saw of any corporate largesse. The next director didn't give a shit except for his own funds.

One year at the clinic where I worked, it came down that there would be no raises for anyone. They couldn't afford them (1996-7). I had a friend in HR and found out that the Administrator had taken all the money that was slated for employee raises and gave himself a 20% raise! I wish now I had sued the SOB.

I have no sympathy for the wealthy who do not live up to their obligations. YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE!
