My hammer broke...

Seriously, I have to agree with those who believe that the context, or more precisely the audience and the occasion, determines what's acceptable as humor and what is not.

I generally find jokes with any reference to sexual abuse or rape very distasteful, and I never in my life thought that rape could be even remotely humorous - until I saw the infamous scene in Taratino's Pulp Fiction, where the thug gangster was brutalized by the cop. I have to honestly admit, given the circumstances, and given how evil the gangster was, it was funny. It was perhaps the only conceivable context in which rape could be funny.

I'd like to believe I'm decent and respectful of others, and that I'd never tell a joke like Todd's, certainly not among co-workers or clients. But who knows? I've certainly heard worse from friends and co-workers, male and female, and if the "rude, crude, tasteless" tone of the conversation has already been clearly established with no offense taken, I can't promise that I wouldn't add my own witty but offensive joke to the pile. But I promise I won't go first!
