Hey Rob.....

Hey Rob hope there's no hard feelings you seem like a good guy.

When I originally posted this I opted to do it on the flame board since there is more crude language here and I would have never done it on any other. My logic lead me to believe that anyone that comes here should be ready for just about anything. I wasn't looking for a flame war so I would like to apologize if I got out of hand.

From the way it sounds I think I'm younger than you therefore I am growing up in a different society than it was 20 or 30 years ago.

Both Mom and Dad were professional's. Mom was a Director at a major corporation and Dad and Engineer. When climbing the ranks at her company Mom had to endure a lot in the early years and since she was raised to be a lady it made it even tougher because in business and especially in management she had to be as tough as the men.

It was hard in those early days because men saw her as a threat and didn't like a women infiltrating the good old boy system. She wanted to be treated as an equal, however the men she worked with didn't want to treat her as such so life at work was miserable in those times. Since then (70's) times have changed and the outlook and perceptions in regards to females of the younger generations of males have changed and the good old boy system has been basically dismantled. Mom broke through that glass ceiling and achieved upper management in the early 90's and I'm proud of her accomplishments.

I work with educated professional women my friends that I hang with are all married to or dating professional women my girlfriend is a professional woman so I get a lot of feedback from them on the relationships and tactics of how men domiate women in suttle ways and the way our male dominated culture keeps women down.

They want to be treated as an equal and a partner in life and anything less is unacceptable. I cherish my girlfriend and treat her like gold as she does me but it's all on an equal plane I'm not the main decision maker we discuss and then decide. Many men have a problem with this it hurts their male ego to consider themselves equal to women.

Many professional women don't want a car door open for them or for men to stand when they approach a table, they feel that acts such as these diminish their status as an equal. I champion treating women as an equal at work and at home. After understanding what my Mom had to go through climbing the corporate ladder I learned a lot.

Regards,

Todd
