There are many fine dictionaries online. I encourage you to avail yourself of a few. And some encyclopedias. And some newspapers that don't feature "My Country, Right or More Right" in the masthead.
fascism
The Star Wars saga is the story of a dynastic struggle between two factions of a religiously motivated interplanetary oligarchy. It has all the complexity of a western, in which the more interesting characters are usually the bad guys and the character actors anyway.
I heard an interview recently that points out the movie was made with the idea that the dialogue is superfluous, and that John Williams's score with a few captions interspliced would suffice to carry the story, just like a Rudolph Valentino silent flick. The biggest factor determining who to support is prettiness. Let's see: a young Harrison Ford and the Hourglass Princess with their lovably comic hangers-on, or a heavy-breather and his wrinkled, cackling, red-eyed boss? You make the choice.
Carrie Fisher's guest appearance on Saturday Night Live about 20 years ago in her Princess Leia suit on the beach with "Frankie" and "Annette" hit it right on the nose. Let's Twist, everybody! Chorus: "Obiwankenobi, obiwankenobi..."
