Europe is fine, just having a bit of an identity crisis
Europe is prosperous, tolerant, and a nice place to visit on vacation!
I do sense a certain emotional "numbness" Europeans tend to possess in the area of international relations, a hesitancy to take any kind of firm action to solve problems, going well out of their way to avoid conflict, to the point of appeasement perhaps (the Balkans come to mind). Then again this may be a natural reaction to the 20th century horrors Europeans lived through much more closely than we Americans did.
