And socialism as far as I know has always been to the left. But to be honest its never been clear to me what the difference was between facism and socialism. I put my government teacher on the spot one day and the best I was able to hammer it down was "in socialism the government owns everything; in facism the government owns everything but they pretend you do." either one sounds pretty 'left' to me.
I was not confusing communist russia with Nazi germany, its just a comment on your general conversation, calling one right an one left. . . I do agree wiith Tom a bit lower on this thread ( and have had this opinion for quite some time) that 'right' and 'left' are ambiguous and confusing.
