Hi Raoul,
The way I see it, the euro-right wingers are really anti-foreigner, many having been assimilated from the former communist east germany.
They feel they are being overrun with folks who have no right to their government's resources which should be theirs as they were denied them for so long.
The growth of the right wing exploded when the green party 'grew' and they and others seemed particularly unconcerned about immigration, crime and tax issues.
These folks however are not US 'right-wingers' as their politics are FAR more nationalistic than is the 'right-wing' here. Here the term applies to strong-defense, low-tax, small government folks - and is not so much concerned about immigration , race or country of origin. (excepting Pat Buchanan & co.)
Europe has such diverse problems and south-eastern europe has the Muslim faith at odds with Catholicism and the Protestants that often these immigrants are totally at odds with the western-european lifestyle and faith.
The division creates noticeable tension and in youth this tension turns violent often.
Germany, the heart and soul of Europe, has been prostrated before the international community for fifty-five years and a whole new generation feels like we do here about the civil war in the US.....that's ancient history.
So these young folks are tired of 'reparations' and letting everyone and their brother have a place to stay for a year.
As the unemployment rate jumps higher - these folks increase in number.
They range from passive protesters to skin-heads who actively commit crimes against foreigners.
If Europe is not careful....it could easily see another repeat of Hitler's rise to power. However in this case it would likely remain a regional issue...or even a euro-war?
Current conditions are eerily reminiscent of the conditions of post-WWI europe:
Migrating peoples from unstable nations
High unemployment
Racial tensions
Religious tensions
A Weak Russia
An isolationiust USA
It all adds up to Trouble with a capital T.
Just my take on it...
