For when you are rested

<"Where did we get the RIGHT.. on any ground, legal, moral or ethical to hand over one nations home, land, property, everything in fact, to another?"

Didn't mean to skate over it but it is a fete acompli and we are left to deal with it. As Tom pointed out, the UN sanctioned the creation of Israel but one could easily make a moral argument that they exceeded their mandate.

However, there was no Jewish or Palestinian nation there at the time and the creation of both states had been jawboned for 40-50 years prior. Hindsight is 20/20.

"..........." terrorists are those who target exclusively civilian targets.." ... but that's not what happening is it Frank"

Well, yes it is when the Pals send a suicide bomber into a Bar Mitsvah or a wedding and there is not a Israeli soldier or public official in the vicinity.

"Is it a terrorist act to target clearly marked Red Cross ambulances and medics? If not, why not?"

The counter-claim is that the ambulances are actually transporting militants and weapons. If that is true, say 25% of the time, it might be called ruthless military response. If it is never true and the intent is to kill injured people it is definitely terrorism.

Remember, nobody is claiming that the suicide bombers were really after strategic targets and the fact that they blew up a wedding party was a mistake they are ashamed of making. The Arabs celebrate the death of women and children and that does not play well in our culture.

"you are one of the very few US citizens I've come across who would cknowledge that injustice between the two sides might be a factor."

Sorry to hear that, there is lots of blame to share on both sides and I have no doubt that the Jews have committed attrocities. Anyone that denies this is deluded. The strong usually bully the weak and often lash out with excessive force because they are angry and because they can. We have done it in all of our wars and so has the UK. Sometimes we have punished our bullies more often we probably have not.

A subject of conversation around here that you have missed is the marginal consensus that the Palestinians could have had their way with Israel long ago if they had used civil disobedience and passive resistance in the way of M. L. King in the U.S. and Ghandi in India.

How many would have died in India if the Indians had tried to bomb the British Empire into submission?

When faced with overwhelming force, the moral high ground is critical to win broad support for your cause. The Pals lose ground in U.S. public opinion when they target civilians in spite of the huge disparate ratio of their casualties and the collateral damage inflicted by the Jewish military.

I truly wish the Palestinians well but I fear that the tactics they are using will not result in success for their side.
